Supplemental Coverage

Beyond Medicare

Supplemental Coverage

Medicare covers a lot — but not everything. Supplemental plans fill the critical gaps that can leave you with unexpected bills when you need care most.

What Medicare Doesn’t Cover

Original Medicare and even Medicare Advantage plans have limits. Serious illnesses, extended hospital stays, and home health care needs can generate out-of-pocket costs that add up fast. Supplemental coverage is designed to step in exactly when Medicare steps back.

As an independent broker, we compare plans from the carriers we’re appointed with to find the right fit for your health history and budget — at no cost to you.

Five Supplemental Plan Types We Offer

Hospital Indemnity

Pays a fixed cash amount for each covered day you spend as an inpatient, sent to you rather than to the hospital. It’s the most common pairing with a Medicare Advantage plan, because it offsets exactly the daily hospital copays an MA plan charges. You decide what the money is for — the deductible, the parking, the groceries while you’re out of work.

Cancer, Heart Attack & Stroke

Pays a lump sum on diagnosis of a covered condition. Because it isn’t tied to a specific bill, it can cover the costs health insurance never touches: travel to a specialist, a spouse’s lost work time, a mortgage payment, help at home during treatment.

Home Health Care

Medicare pays for skilled home health only in narrow, short-term circumstances after a qualifying event, and it does not pay for custodial care — help with bathing, dressing, meals, and getting around. A home health care plan pays a daily or monthly benefit toward that care, which is what most families actually end up needing.

How These Fit Together

You don’t need all of them. Which ones make sense depends on your plan type, your health history, and your savings. Someone on a Medigap Plan G already has hospital cost-sharing largely handled and may be better served by a cancer plan. Someone on a $0-premium Advantage plan often gets more value from hospital indemnity. That’s the conversation.
